Web Accessibility Overview

Web accessibility means that people with disabilities can use the Web. More specifically, accessibility means that the Web is designed so that people can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact effectively.

Functional limitations prevent millions of people from using the Web. Currently, most sites contain barriers that make it difficult or impossible for a significant number of people with disabilities to use them. However, if websites and web applications were accessible, these individuals could use them fully. Web accessibility addresses all impairments, including visual, auditory, physical, cognitive, neurological, or speech-related. This site strives to respect the Web accessibility standards (W3C / WCAG).

Navigation Assistance

Skip Links

Placed at the very beginning of the document, these bypass/skip links allow users to jump directly to the desired section (content, main navigation menu, contact forms) right after loading the page, without having to navigate through unwanted repetitive links. These links greatly facilitate access for assistive technologies, including screen readers.

Tab Navigation

Press the Tab key repeatedly to loop through the active links, and press Enter to activate the selected link.

Keyboard Shortcuts (Accesskeys)

• s = Jump directly to main content
• 0 = Go to Accessibility Policy
• 1 = Go to Home Page
• 3 = Go to Sitemap
• 7 = Contact the webmaster

Accesskey User Guide:

• Mozilla, Firefox on Windows: Press Shift + Alt + accesskey simultaneously (using standard keyboard numbers, not the numeric keypad). Note: on QWERTY or QWERTZ keyboards, Shift may not be required.
• Internet Explorer on Windows: Press Alt + accesskey, then press Enter.
• Opera on Windows, Mac, Linux: Press Esc + Shift followed by the accesskey.
• Safari, Chrome, Firefox on macOS: Press Ctrl + Opt (or Cmd depending on browser version) + accesskey.

Adjusting Text Size

You can increase or decrease text size using standard browser tools:

• Press Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac) and scroll your mouse wheel.
• On Firefox, Chrome, and Edge: press Ctrl + + to zoom in or Ctrl + - to zoom out.
• On Safari: Go to the View menu > Zoom In / Zoom Out.

Lastly, for high-contrast reading, you can disable Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) through your browser's "View" > "Page Style" > "No Style" option.
